Open Oceans is proud to announce that we are piloting Marc Weiss' new Coral Foods in Central Florida!  The results
have been amazing!

*The Only Soft Coral & Small Polyp Stony (SPS) Coral nutrient package on the market that is backed by hard science.
Enhances growth as it occurs in nature.  Enhances ability of soft corals and polyps to nourish themselves as they do in
nature.  Economical natural dry formula- no water with biocidal preservatives. Non polluting!

Soft corals and polyps primarily eat detrital aggregates colonized by beneficial bacterioplankton adhering to their copius
mucus layer.  It appears there is also a fungal element to the symbiotic mix.  These organisms literally farm their own food
in their mucus layer.  Soft corals are carnivorous and high-protein microbes support growth and health in them.

Soft corals do not appear to digest phytoplankton (algae).  They are nourished through their mucus envelope via the
byproducts of bacterioplankton.  Zooplankton are sparse in nature and make up a small amount of the soft coral's
nutritional intake.  Bacteria in the mucus layer are required to degrade it first.  Though the bacterioplankton fix and reduce
nitrates produced by this rotting in time, these large pieces of coral "foods" are adding to the pollution in the aquarium until
it is consumed.  Bacterial enriched coral mucus also contains beneficial organisms that may eat, crowd out or provide
antibiotic byproducts against pathogens.

Soft Coral Grow provides a bio-film that adheres to and enhances the coral's mucus layer.  It provides an enhanced
environment for increased bacterioplankton colonization allowing the organisms to feed itself more efficiently, to the extent
that further feeding may not be needed.  Soft Coral Grow is a natural cultured detrital aggregate with an additional algal
colloid.  No biocidal preservatives - as are in liquid coral foods!
