Dr. G's - Magnesium, Ionic Strontium & Molybdenum, Iodine!
Magnesium- is indispensable for healthy bivalves, soft and hard corals, and
promotes coralline algae growth. It is also essential for the critical buffer
(pH level) of you tank and helps establish a stable ecosystem. Magnesium
is extremely important in the calcium reactions of your aquarium, preventing
calcium precipitation. Coral and algae growth deplete magnesium; it is also
lost by the use of excessive kalkwasser. If your magnesium levels are low,
you cannot maintain proper calcium and alkalinity.
Ionic Strontium & Molybdenum- is essential for hard corals, coralline algae,
soft corals, starfish, clams, and other shellfish, tube worms and
Gorgonians. Strontium is constantly extracted from seawater by
calcium-consuming organisms which use strontium for aragonite
construction.
Iodine- is needed by soft corals and Invertebrates. Essential for
Gorgonians, tunicates, sponges, Xenia, worms, shrimp, etc. It is quickly
consumed by tank inhabitants, or depleted by protein skimmers and other
forms of filtration.
